Shelley Hu (she/they) is an artist, producer, and educator originally from Chengdu, China.
Shelley creates time-based narratives, in virtual and real spaces. Their multimedia works have been exhibited at local galleries in New York including La Mama’s CultureHub. Among many awards, Shelley shares a New York Emmy Award for their collaborative data visualization work in multimedia story Finding Sanctuary.
Since April 2021, Shelley has been serving as Senior Producer at TRANSFR Inc’ VR Studios. For 2 years prior, Shelley was part of the team that produced and toured GiantVR, TreeVR, and RainforestAR. With a passion for education, Shelley has taught and/or spoken at New York University, Pratt Institute, the Cooper Union, among others.
With B.A in Studio Art and Media Studies from Kalamazoo College, Shelley has a master's degree from New York University's ITP program - founded in 1979 by the legendary Red Burns with the mission to share the access of new technologies to all. Born and raised in Sichuan, China, Shelley now works and lives New York City.
